The B1 Preliminary exam and how to prepare for it

B1 Preliminary, once called the Preliminary English Test (PET), is the Cambridge English qualification at level B1 of the CEFR, the intermediate level. It shows that you can use English for everyday things: read simple articles, write an email, follow a conversation and make yourself understood when you travel, study or work.

B1 Academy gets you ready for Cambridge English B1 Preliminary (PET) with an app built around the real exam. Practise every part of every paper, solve full mock exams, get your writing corrected by AI and see how close you are to exam day.

The papers of B1 Preliminary and their parts

In the real exam, Reading is one paper of 45 min. Writing takes 45 min, Listening about 30 min and Speaking about 12 min, usually with another candidate. Here every paper is split into its parts, so you can practise one task at a time.
